The Cheapest Jeep Now Costs Over $30,000

Jeep has undertaken an aggressive price-correction strategy going into next year. After MSRPs increased across the board during the Covid-19 pandemic amid declining sales, the company took measures to correct course. The automaker reduced the starting price on several models, even admitting it went too far in some cases.  But not even Jeep is immune to higher costs.   

For 2026, the Compass compact crossover remains the brand’s entry-level model, but it’s also more expensive to start. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the range-topping Grand Wagoneer is now $22,300 cheaper to start than before as it replaces the standard Wagoneer offering.   

We don’t have pricing for Jeep’s electric Recon or the updated Grand Cherokee yet, which debuted last month. Jeep is updating its lineup as it attempts to reconnect with its core customers, who want value and off-road fun. The 2026 pricing reflects this, although we imagine buyers will always want a cheaper offering.   

Until that happens, this is how much a new Jeep will cost you in 2026.

2026 Jeep Compass: $30,990

While Jeep has worked hard to lower prices across its lineup, the Compass enters 2026 at a higher price than the outgoing model. The Compass now starts at $30,990 for the Latitude trim, which is the entry-level trim for the model—and the brand. Jeep has discontinued the Compass Sport, which started at $28,895 for the 2025 model year.   

The compact crossover still uses a 200-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Changes are minor, with two new colors now available: Joose and Fathom Blue. Jeep also enhanced the Trailhawk trim with additional equipment, adding remote start, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, an eight-way power driver’s seat, and a windshield wiper de-icer.   

2026 Jeep Wrangler: $36,390

The JL-generation Jeep Wrangler underwent a major mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year, so the 2026 version has a very minor update. Jeep has revived the deep-purple Reign exterior color, which the brand first introduced in 2018 and used again in 2023. It’s also available on the Gladiator.   

The two-door Wrangler is now more expensive, starting at $36,390. It comes standard with Stellantis’ 3.6-liter V-6 engine and a six-speed manual transmission. The four-door Wrangler Rubicon X sits at the top, and it costs $62,420.   

2026 Jeep Cherokee: $36,995

The Cherokee is back for 2026 after a brief hiatus, and it’s now available as a hybrid. Under the hood is a 350-volt hybrid powertrain that pairs a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with a two-motor electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. Total output is 210 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque.   

Despite the all-new design inside and out, as well as the hybrid powertrain, the 2026 Cherokee is $200 cheaper than the outgoing model, starting at $36,995. There are four trims available, capped by the range-topping Overland, which costs $45,995.  

2026 Jeep Gladiator: $41,825

Like the Wrangler, the Gladiator also gets the new Reign color for the exterior, but the rugged pickup otherwise continues unchanged from 2025. But the price does not. The 2026 Gladiator Sport starts at $41,825, which is $1,135 more than the previous model.  

The range tops out with the Mojave X and Rubicon X, which cost the same $63,995. The truck is equipped with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. There is a high likelihood we will see a V-8 Gladiator soon, too, as Stellantis leans back into combustion power.   

2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: $64,740

Jeep rejiggered the Grand Wagoneer lineup for 2026, making the Grand Wagoneer more affordable while discontinuing the regular Wagoneer model. The Grand Wagoneer now starts at $64,740, down nearly $23,000 compared to the previous one.

Despite the lower price, the base engine remains the same, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six, producing 420 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque. There’s also an extended-range model coming that uses a 3.6-liter V-6 and 120-kilowatt generator to charge the 92-kilowatt-hour battery pack. Output is 647 hp and 620 lb-ft.
