Mahindra & Mahindra, an Indian automotive powerhouse, has unveiled the BE 6, an all-electric coupe-SUV that represents a giant leap ahead in the company’s electrical vehicle (EV) portfolio. With its new design language, sophisticated features, and competitive price tag, BE 6 is expected to make a strong impact on the Indian EV market.
Design and Dimensions
The Mahindra BE 6 will have a modern coupe-SUV design, which it flaunts with a clean, aerodynamic profile with sleek lines. Aggressive styling is accompanied by a logo that is lit, gloss-black exterior cladding, and an all-LED lighting setup for maximum aesthetics. The vehicle is offered in eight monotone color options: Tango Red, Desert Myst, Everest White Satin, Firestorm Orange, Desert Myst Satin, White Myst Satin, Deep Forest, and Napoli Black. These enable the customers to select a finish that matches their style.
Performance and Battery Options
The BE 6 is built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform, supporting both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations.It comes in two battery pack variants, namely 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The 59 kWh battery gives a claimed range of about 542 km under the MIDC cycle. The 79 kWh variant extends the range to around 682 km, and therefore it is suitable for city commutes as well as long trips. The vehicle supports 175 kW DC fast charging, which means the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in about 20 minutes, thus reducing downtime during travel.
Regarding the power output, the BE 6 comes with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor that can generate anywhere from 231 hp to 285.5 hp, depending on the version chosen. This powertrain setup makes for rear-wheel-driven dynamics, providing exciting dynamics in the drive. There are drive modes available too, such as Range, Everyday, and Race, along with a Boost function that enables drivers to make their preferred performance.
Interior and Features
Inside, the BE 6 is styled to provide an upscale experience and myriad advanced features.
The dash has a double integrated screen with a touch-screen infotainment unit and a driver’s screen, providing full access to vehicle information and entertainment.Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are expected on the infotainment unit, to ensure seamless smartphone integration. A 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos is expected to deliver an immersive audio experience. Comfort features will be multi-zone AC, dual wireless phone chargers, and a fixed glass roof with ambient lighting patterns that enhance overall in-cabin ambiance.
Safety Safety will remain a top priority for Mahindra, and the BE 6 will not disappoint by including a comprehensive suite of safety features. The vehicle is fitted with features such as six airbags, rear disc brakes, and brake-by-wire technology, rear camera and sensors, tire pressure monitoring system, electronic parking brake, driver drowsiness detection system, auto headlights, and rain-sensing wipers.
Higher-spec variants will come packed with safety features like a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System ADAS suite, self-parking function, 360-degree camera, and blind-spot monitoring, furthering the safety and convenience quotient of the vehicle.
Pricing and Availability Competitively priced, the Mahindra BE 6 begins at ₹18.90 lakh for its base variant, Pack One. In this manner, the price makes the electric SUV quite alluring in that category and promises a fair trade of performance, range, and features at an unbeatable price point. The total prices will be released at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025 and deliveries are supposed to follow shortly thereafter.
