The Indian government is set to dispatch seven all-party delegations to key global capitals later this month to present a united front against cross-border terrorism and convey India’s unwavering zero-tolerance stance on the issue.
The delegations, comprising around 40 Members of Parliament and prominent political figures from across the political spectrum, will visit several important partner nations, including members of the United Nations Security Council.
The initiative marks the first time such a wide-ranging parliamentary outreach is being undertaken to raise global awareness about Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism and to amplify India’s narrative internationally.
The tours are expected to begin on May 23 and last for about 10 days, covering five to eight countries per group. Destinations are likely to include the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates, among others.
Each of the seven delegations will be led by a senior MP, reflecting India’s bipartisan resolve on national security. The delegation heads are:
- Shashi Tharoor (INC)
- Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP)
- Sanjay Kumar Jha (JDU)
- Baijayant Panda (BJP)
- Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK)
- Supriya Sule (NCP)
- Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena)
NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule, speaking about the initiative, said, “When it is a question of our nation, we are all together. Each committee will have five members and will tour multiple countries to present India’s perspective on Operation Sindoor.”
The Ministry of External Affairs, along with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, is reportedly coordinating the effort, preparing detailed dossiers on terror activities and Pakistan’s involvement. An MEA official will accompany each delegation to provide diplomatic support.
The campaign comes in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. India’s precision strikes across the border reportedly neutralized over 100 terrorists, sending a strong message about the country’s resolve.
Sources indicate that opposition leaders such as Manish Tewari, Priyanka Chaturvedi, and Sasmit Patra have also been invited to join the effort, reinforcing the bipartisan nature of the mission. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju is spearheading the coordination of this high-profile international outreach.
This initiative aims to not only counter Pakistan’s global narrative but also reinforce India’s proactive diplomatic stance in the aftermath of intensified terrorist activities in Jammu & Kashmir.
