The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the restructuring and extension of the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi scheme — also known as the PM SVANidhi scheme, an ambitious central programme aimed at supporting street vendors and their families. With a Rs 7,332 crore outlay, the restructured programme will continue until March 31, 2030, benefitting an estimated 1.15 crore street vendors, including 50 lakh new entrants. The revamped scheme will be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and the Department of Financial Services (DFS).
