Interglobe Aviation — which owns and operates airline IndiGo — has said it is scheduled to receive the Airbus A321XLR aircraft by the end of the year.
The carrier will use the aircraft from January next year.
This will be the country’s first A321XLR aircraft, according to IndiGo.

A321XLR is an extra long range version of Airbus’s narrow-body A321neo aircraft.
The airline also announced a new aviation corridor between India and Greece.
What is the relationship between A321XLR and A321neo?
The Airbus A321XLR aircraft is “Xtra Long Range” variant of the aircraft maker’s A321neo family of carriers.
The A321XLR boasts significant enhancements in range, passenger comfort and operational flexibility, according to the Airbus website.
The long range aircraft can fly up to 4,700 nautical miles — equivalent to around 8,700 km — with a flight time of around 11 hours.
These technicalities enable airlines to serve long-distance routes with this aircraft.

What is the seating capacity of Airbus A321XLR?
Typically, the A321XLR seats 180-220 passengers in a two-class configuration, and can accommodate up to 244 passengers in a single-class layout, according to the manufacturer.
The A321XLR is designed to open routes that were traditionally served by larger widebody aircraft.
InterGlobe Aviation (INDIGO) shares
Earlier on Monday, InterGlobe Aviation shares ended largely unchanged at Rs 5,724.9 apiece on BSE.
At the current level, InterGlobe Aviation shares have risen 24.6 per cent so far this year, sharply outperforming a 5.6 per cent rise in the headline Nifty50 index.
The private sector airline stock has gained 15.7 per cent in a year while the Nifty 50 has declined 1.2 per cent.
IndiGo is set to enter the Nifty50 with effect from September 30.
