State-run BSNL is likely to launch its pan-India 4G services on Friday, sources told Zee Business.
The 4G rollout will likely take place in the presence of Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, they said.Â
The development is part of the state-run telecommunication company’s broader plans to complete its pan-India 4G network rollout by the end of September using its indigenous technology.

BSNL has been working towards establishing an indigenous nationwide 4G network using its own infrastructure.Â
Last month, the telecom operator began a soft launch of 4G services in the national capital through a partner’s network access arrangement to provide instant high-speed voice and data to new subscribers. Under the arrangement, BSNL provided last-mile radio coverage on compatible 4G devices with its SIMs, complementing its nationwide 4G under its indigenous rollout programme.
The move enables new BSNLÂ subscribers to get instant 4G availability across Delhi on supported handsets.
It kicked off its 4G services last year with an investment of Rs 25,000 crore.
The company has already revealed plans to invest another Rs 47,000 crore to boost its telecom network.
BSNL is viewed as expanding its 4G network to win back market share and to make use of government aid along with its spectrum through its indigenously-sourced equipment as mandated.

BSNL debt position and earnings
As of July 10, BSNL’s total outstanding debt stood at Rs 16,327 crore, excluding MTNL’s larger debt pile.
BSNL posted a net profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 280 crore in Q4, marking its first back-to-back profitable quarters in 18 years.Â
For FY25, its revenue stood at Rs 23,424 crore, with operating cost efficiencies contributing to improved EBITDA and profit margins.
The debt-laden telecom operator plans to expand its 4G network before proceeding to 5G service initiatives using its indigenously sourced stack.
