Online tutoring firm Vedantu raises  million from existing investors

Vedantu, an online tutoring firm, has received $11 million funding from its existing investors through a convertible equity round, the company said in an official statement today, September 26. The round saw participation from ABC World Asia, Accel India and Omidyar Network India.

The fresh funding is a part of a larger ongoing fundraise, Vedantu said. 

The edtech company plans to utilise the funding towards category expansion, both organic and inorganic, alongside investments in technology, AI and adaptive content to improve personalization and learning outcomes.

Started in 2011, Vedantu became a unicorn after raising $100 million funding in 2021 in a Series E round by ABC World Asia. The company is planning to raise $1500-$200 million through IPO between 2027 and 2028. 

Other developments in the startup space

Start-up accelerator platform WaveX will establish seven new incubation centres across India, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said on Wednesday. These centres will support startups in animation, visual effects, gaming, comics (AVGC), and extended reality (XR).

The new centres will be established at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication campuses in Delhi, Jammu, Dhenkanal (Odisha), Kottayam (Kerala), and Amravati (Maharashtra), along with the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata. A two-day Startup Conclave was also organised at Mahatma Mandir in Gujarat. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the conclave 2025 bringing founders, investors, and policymakers from across India together for a wide-ranging showcase and policy dialogue.
