From today, commercial LPG becomes more expensive, so does ATF; catch new prices in four metros

Oil marketing PSUs Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum have raised the prices of commercial-use LPG — or cooking gas — with effect from 6 am on October 1. However, the rates of domestic-use cooking gas were left unchanged. The three state-run OMCs review the rates periodically with any changes implemented from the first day of every month.

The October 1 hike follows four consecutive cuts in the commercial LPG rates.

No relief yet for households; 14.2 kg refill price remains unchanged

Domestic LPG prices, however, remain unchanged for yet another month.

The cost of a 14.2 kg household cylinder is still the same across major metros:

  • Delhi: Rs 853
  • Mumbai: Rs 852.5
  • Kolkata: Rs 879

These are the non-subsidised rates for domestic-use cooking gas.

Which factors impact LPG price revisions?

Currently, oil marketing companies — Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum — review domestic and commercial LPG rates from time to time, aligning them with international benchmark rates and forex rates from the beginning of every month.
