Accelerating Sustainability Performance Worldwide With The EcoVadis Academy

Since its founding in 2007, EcoVadis has become the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, creating a global network of over 100,000 rated companies.

To further its mission of improving sustainability practices worldwide, EcoVadis partnered with Learning Pool to build an accessible, impactful learning experience that helps businesses understand and act on their sustainability scorecards.

Challenges

EcoVadis screens over 1.6 million companies, with 100,000+ rated across 175+ countries and 200+ industries.

As the leading sustainability rating system, EcoVadis needed a way to help organizations not only interpret their assessment results but also improve their sustainability performance in key areas: environment, ethics, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement.

To do this, the team identified 27 topic areas aligned to the EcoVadis scorecard, providing targeted guidance and actionable steps. For example, if a company’s scorecard highlights weaknesses in “ethics” due to limited whistleblowing policies, learners are directed to specific modules on building fairer and more transparent practices.

Solution

EcoVadis required a lightweight, scalable, and globally accessible learning solution. Developed using Articulate Rise and hosted via a Learning Management System (LMS), the EcoVadis Academy offers a seamless single sign-on experience directly from the EcoVadis platform, creating a one-click journey from scorecard to learning.

Courses are structured as microlearning chapters (5–10 minutes each), designed to fit the schedules of busy professionals while providing practical, actionable advice.

The Academy was co-developed with Learning Pool through an agile production model, creating around one hour of new content each week from spring 2021 through year-end. Collaboration between EcoVadis learning designers and Learning Pool’s creative teams ensured consistency, rapid delivery, and strong brand alignment.

Since launch, the Academy has been promoted to customers, partners, and the wider community through the EcoVadis website to maximize adoption.

The EcoVadis Academy has become a cornerstone of EcoVadis’s sustainability mission, enabling companies to reduce risk, drive improvement, and accelerate positive impact.

Covering topics from biodiversity to child labour prevention, the Academy equips organizations with learning proven to enhance ethics and sustainability. A comprehensive suite of interactive, localized learning experiences in 9 languages, supporting over 18,000 learners in 100+ countries.
