First Trade: Nifty 50 opens higher at 24,818, Sensex above 81,000

Stock Market Opening Bell: Indian stock markets opened higher on Friday, tracking positive cues from Asian markets. The BSE Sensex was trading around 80,996 levels, up 278 points or 0.35 per cent, while the Nifty50 rose 72 points or 0.29 per cent to 24,807.

Markets extended their gains into the second day, buoyed by the GST Council’s recent announcements on rationalising the Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure.

Broader markets showed strength with the Nifty MidCap and SmallCap indices gaining 0.41 per cent and 0.38 per cent, respectively. Among sectoral movers, the Nifty Auto index led the pack, rising 0.7 per cent, supported by Ashok Leyland, M&M, Bharat Forge, Samvardhana Motherson, and Bajaj Auto.

No major mainline IPOs are scheduled today. In the SME segment, Vashishtha Luxury Fashion’s IPO opens for subscription, while Vigor Plast India and Sharvaya Metals enter day two, and Austere Systems moves to day three of subscription. The allotment basis for Goel Construction Co and Optivalue Tek Consulting IPOs will also be announced today. Meanwhile, Abril Paper Tech, Snehaa Organics, and Sugs Lloyd are set to make their debut on D-Street.
