Google AI hub in Vizag to generate Rs 10,000 crore to power Andhra’s growth, key highlights

Google’s massive investment in Andhra Pradesh is expected to generate approximately Rs 10,000 crore in revenue for the state, marking a significant milestone in its journey to progress and self-reliance.

Union Minister of State for Communications, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said that- ” the upcoming 1-GW hyperscale Google Data Centre in Visakhapatnam is expected to generate approximately Rs 10,000 crore in revenue for Andhra Pradesh” on Tuesday, IANS reported.

The Union Minister described the project as a landmark moment in Swarandhra Pradesh’s path to progress and self-reliance. With an investment of approx. $15 billion over five years (2026-2030), this initiative is expected to boost the state’s economy significantly.

It will create 5,000-6,000 direct jobs and 20,000-30,000 total jobs in the state, bringing in much-needed manpower and infrastructure to Visakhapatnam. The project will also provide essential facilities like power and cooling, having a substantial multiplier effect on the state’s economy.

This development is set to increase growth, prosperity, and employment opportunities, marking a new era of progress for Swarandhra Pradesh.

Adani Enterprises, through its joint venture company AdaniConneX and Google announced a landmark partnership to develop India’s largest AI data centre campus and new green energy infrastructure in Visakhapatnam, marking an important milestone in the country’s digital journey.

After announcement, Chandrasekhar interacted with media and discussed about setting us the artificial intelligence (AI) hub in Visakhapatnam, during the Bharat AI Shakti event held in New Delhi. The project will include India’s first gigawatt-scale centre and Google’s first AI hub in India.

The minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support for Andhra Pradesh’s development and appreciated Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh for attracting Google to the state.

He highlighted that this project will establish Andhra Pradesh as a digital hub and drive AI-led growth across India. Google’s $15 billion investment in Vishakhapatnam will create a cutting-edge AI hub, supported by clean energy and a robust data network, in collaboration with AdaniConneX and Airtel, IANS reported citing company’s statement.

This initiative will significantly boost the state’s economy and create new opportunities.

The Google AI hub, built in partnership with AdaniConneX, includes purpose-built AI data centre infrastructure in Visakhapatnam that is boosting India’s AI capabilities. The initiative was marked by the presence of several dignitaries, including electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Chief Minister Naidu, IT Minister Lokesh, and Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian were present at the event.
