In a daily weather briefing today, May 27, IMD informed that normal to above normal rainfall is expected in India during June-September 2025.
During the briefing, which started at around 4.30 PM IST, IMD scientists informed that the India Forecast System has been activated from today, May 27. The Southwest monsoon will be 105 per cent. It will be normal throughout India and will be below normal in Northeast India.
There will be above normal rainfall during the monsoon, IMD said.
The weather will be clear throughout the country in June. There is a 108 per cent chance of rainfall, it further said.
Through a social media post on X, IMD informed, “Quantitatively, the Southwest monsoon seasonal (June to September, 2025) rainfall over the country as a whole is likely to be 106% of LPA (Long Period Average) with a model error of ± 4%. This indicates that above normal rainfall is most likely to occur over the country as a whole during the monsoon season (June to September, 2025). The LPA of the season rainfall over the country as a whole for the period 1971-2020 is 87 cm.”

In June 2025, normal to below normal monthly maximum temperatures are likely over most parts of the country, except many regions of Northwest India and Northeast India, where above
normal temperatures are very likely. Above-normal monthly minimum temperatures are likely across most parts of the country, except some parts of Central India and adjoining south Peninsula where, where normal to below-normal minimum temperatures are very likely.
