Operation Sindoor: Vikram Misri says India responded to Pakistan’s violations in a responsible and sufficient way

Operation Sindoor, India-Pakistan Conflict Facts: Amid growing India-Pakistan tensions, the External Affairs Ministry is briefing the media. The media briefing comes after the Indian Armed Forces responsibly responded to Pakistan military’s numerous violations on the Indian soil overnight.    

Here are key highlights of what the Foreign Secretary and defence personnel said: 

Foreign Secretary 

• India responded to Pakistan’s violations in a responsible and sufficient manner in the early hours  
• Pak is again trying desperately to impart communal hue to the situation with intention to create discord
• Indus Water Treaty is in abeyance
• IMF meeting is underway; India will voice its concerns there

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi

• On the night of May 8 and May 9, Pakistani forces indulged in several violations with its clear intent to target Indian military infrastructure 
• Pak military used heavy calibre weaponry alongside the LoC
• Pakistan targeted 36 locations on Indian soil; its attempts were blocked and neutralised swiftly and effectively
• Pak used around 300-400 drones in its attempts to target these areas along the international border and the LoC, from Leh to Sir Creek  
• Indian defence forces countered Pak attempts strongly and effectively
• Indian Armed Forces used kinetics as well as non-kinetic tools and equipment to neutralise several drones from this Pak fleet
• Drone debris is being inspected 
• Pak using its citizens as shield

• Pakistan carried out multiple violations of Indian airspace along the entire Western border with intent to target military infrastucture
• Pak military also resorted to firing heavy calibre weapons along LoC
