More than 11.31 lakh health camps have been held across India under the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday, September 30. The campaign, launched earlier this month by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has reached over 6.51 crore citizens with preventive screenings and medical services, according to official data reported by IANS.
Record outreach for women and children
The ministry described the initiative as the largest health outreach of its kind in the country with a sharp focus on women and child health. Of those screened, 1.44 crore citizens were checked for hypertension and 1.41 crore for diabetes.
More than 31 lakh women underwent breast cancer screening, while 16 lakh were screened for cervical cancer. Oral cancer checks were conducted for nearly 58 lakh citizens. Officials said the scale of the drive reflects an unprecedented push for early detection of non-communicable diseases.

Maternal and child health services
The campaign has also strengthened maternal and child care. Over 54.43 lakh antenatal check-ups were carried out during the fortnight-long outreach. Nearly 1.28 crore children received routine life-saving vaccines at community-level health centres.
Officials underlined that the focus on immunisation and maternal care was aimed at bridging critical service gaps in rural and semi-urban areas.
Tackling anaemia and infectious diseases
The health camps screened more than 93 lakh citizens for anaemia, alongside nutrition counselling sessions that reached lakhs of families.
Over 71 lakh people were tested for tuberculosis and nearly 7.9 lakh for Sickle Cell Disease. The initiative also registered more than 3.44 lakh voluntary blood donors and issued over 13 lakh new Ayushman Bharat – PM Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) health cards.
Role of institutions and state participation
The Union Health Ministry said thousands of speciality camps were organised during the drive, providing advanced diagnostics, counselling and treatment services. These camps, it added, complemented the work of state governments and grassroots health workers.
Central government institutes, medical colleges and private organisations played a key role. Together, they organised 20,269 screening and speciality health camps that benefited more than 29 lakh citizens.
Campaign to run till October 2
The Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan began on September 17 and will run until October 2. Health camps are being held at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, District Hospitals and other public health facilities across the country.
Officials said the initiative was designed not only as a short-term outreach but also as a model for integrating preventive and promotive care at the community level.
