Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit the Jammu air base and forward areas in Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on Thursday, May 15. He is also set to visit a forward location in Kashmir where he will meet the heroes of Operation Sindoor.
The Union Minister’s visit is crucial for boosting the morale of frontline troops and reviewing operational readiness in a sensitive region, according to an official statement.
During the visit, Singh is expected to interact with soldiers who played key roles in this successful counter-infiltration operations along the Line of Control.
The development comes at a time when both India and Pakistani have agreed to a ceasefire on Pakistan’s request after days of Pakistani military’s aggression, including drone and missile strikes, on Indian soil, targeting civilian and military facilities.
Meanwhile, India’s retaliatory operation, called Operation Sindoor, has been in connection with an April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, J&K, where 26 tourists were killed.
