Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to dedicate to the nation development projects amounting to Rs 8,500 crore on Saturday, according to officials.
The PM will lay the foundation stones of these projects in Manipur on that day, they said.
The news follows the Union home affairs ministry signing a tripartite Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact with the Manipur government, and Kuki groups KNO and UPF that aims to restore peace in the state, and the reopening of National Highway 2 — crucial for connecting Imphal with Nagaland and other regions in the Northeast.

President’s Rule
Manipur has been under President’s Rule since February, when the then Chief Minister N Biren Singh stepped down amid ethnic violence and administrative breakdown in the state.
The rule was extended by six additional months, starting August 13.
The extension was cleared under a statutory resolution at the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
The initial term of President’s Rule lasts six months and can be extended by six-month intervals for up to three years with Parliamentary approval.
In other words, the state is set to stay under President’s Rule until February 13.
