Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to make an official visit to India in December, the Kremlin said on Thursday.
Putin will have an annual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it noted.
Russia also said and preparations are at “full swing” for Putin’s scheduled visit to India.

This is set to be the Russian leader’s first visit to India since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in early 2022.

The development comes roughly two months before the scheduled 2025 edition of the India-Russia summit, due in early-December.
PM Modi met with Putin in person on September 1, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Tianjin, China.
Both leaders discussed bilateral cooperation between India and Russia, including economic, financial and energy sectors.

Both also spoke in mid-September, over telephone.
That communication took place as Putin telephoned PM Modi to wish him on his 75th birthday. The Russian president warmly conveyed his greetings on PM Modi’s birthday.
The PM expressed his heartfelt appreciation for his wishes and enduring friendship.
The two leaders took stock of various issues on the bilateral agenda and agreed to stay in close touch.Â
PM Modi reiterated India’s full support for peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.

Donald Trump on Russia & India
On September 5, Trump expressed concern over India and Russia’s alignment with China, claiming that both countries appear to have been “lost to deepest, darkest China”.
Those remarks followed a summit hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tianjin, where more than 20 non-Western country leaders were in attendance, including Putin and Modi.
