Gold & Silver Rates Today: Gold and silver futures witnessed gains on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Monday, ahead of the upcoming contract expiries.
Gold futures (June 5) rose by Rs 2,286 or 2.42 per cent to Rs 96,930 per 10 grams — the highest in over three weeks — after the domestic currency, the rupee, appreciated by 16 paise to 85.39 (provisional) against the American dollar on Monday.
The contract also hit an intraday high of Rs 96,930. The lifetime high for the contract stands at Rs 99,358, while the lowest recorded price is Rs 77,078.
Meanwhile, silver futures (July 4) surpassed the Rs 1 lakh mark, gaining as much as 3.37 per cent from the previous close of Rs 97,015 to touch Rs 1,00,555 per kg.
At the last count (8:15 PM), the contract was trading at Rs 1,00,289 per kg with intraday prices ranging between Rs 97,122 and Rs 1,00,555.
Silver’s all-time high stands at Rs 1,03,704, with a lifetime low of Rs 88,050.
Gold climbed to a more than three-week high as the dollar weakened and geopolitical and trade tensions mounted.
