In a big relief for frequent highway travellers, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to launch the FASTag Annual Pass facility on August 15, 2025. The feature, available exclusively through the Rajmargyatra mobile app and the NHAI website, will allow users of private vehicles to travel across designated National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) without paying tolls per trip — for up to one year or 200 trips, whichever comes earlier.
What is FASTag Annual Pass ?
The FASTag Annual Pass is a toll plaza subscription that gives free passage to users across national highway toll plazas. Pass holders have to pay the pass price of INR 1800 or INR 3000 for repurchases for the year 2023-24.

Where can you buy?
The Annual Pass can only be obtained through the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI portal. On verification of vehicle and FASTag eligibility, the user is prompted for payment to activate the Pass. The entire activation process takes around two hours post-receipt of confirmed payment.

Key terms and conditions:
Only valid for private non-commercial vehicles (Car/Jeep/Van) with a legitimate registration number.
Not for any commercial use. It would result in its immediate deactivation if misused.
Cannot be transferable to another vehicle.
FASTag must be affixed properly on the windshield and linked to a valid Vehicle Registration Number.
FASTags registered only with a chassis number would not be valid.
At non-NHAI fee plazas (e.g., state highways, local bodies, parking), the FASTag shall remain operational applying usual toll rates.
Trip calculation and validity
For open toll plazas, each crossing counts as one trip; a round trip counts as two. For closed tolling systems, entry and exit together count as a single trip. Once the pass completes 200 trips or one year from activation, it will revert to a regular FASTag and must be renewed to continue benefits.
Is it mandatory?
No, the Annual Pass is optional. The regular FASTag system will continue for users who choose not to opt for the pass.
