Texmaco, Titagarh, Transrail rally on fresh orders; railway stocks in focus

Railway stocks in focus: Shares of railway-linked companies were in the spotlight on Friday, August 22, after fresh order wins by multiple players in the sector. Texmaco Rail & Engineering, Titagarh Rail Systems, and Transrail Lighting saw increased investor interest, even as broader markets traded subdued.

Texmaco Rail & Engineering gained nearly 2 per cent to Rs 144.91 on the NSE as of 12:39 PM, after announcing a Rs 103.16 crore order from Leap Grain Rail Logistics. The contract involves the supply of BCBFG wagons and BVCM brake vans to be delivered within 10 months, as per a supply agreement signed on August 21.

Titagarh Rail Systems, which had hit an intra-day high earlier, was trading slightly lower at Rs 852.05, down 0.36 per cent. The company recently bagged a Rs 445 crore order from Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. to construct two coastal research vessels for the Geological Survey of India. These vessels will be equipped for offshore geological mapping, mineral exploration, and ocean environment monitoring, and are to be delivered within 28 months.

Transrail Lighting also saw gains of around 1 per cent earlier in the session, after announcing new orders worth Rs 837 crore, including a domestic EPC project and an international supply order. This has pushed the company’s FY26 order inflows to over Rs 3,157 crore, reflecting a 57 per cent year-on-year rise.

Despite the recent uptick, Texmaco and Titagarh shares are still down 27 per cent and 23 per cent for the year, respectively. In contrast, Transrail Lighting has soared 41 per cent, significantly outperforming the BSE Sensex, which is up just 4 per cent in the same period.

Separately, Jupiter Wagons said its subsidiary has received a Rs 215 crore Letter of Intent for supplying 5,376 wheelsets for the Vande Bharat train project, adding to the positive momentum in the railway space.
