Trump-Putin Alaska Meeting News: US President Donald Trump said he had a “very productive meeting” with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, after engaging in discussions with him in Alaska. The meeting stretched to several hours.
“We had a very productive meeting, there were many points that we agreed on… (A) couple of big ones that we haven’t quite gotten there but we made some headway… There’s no deal until there’s a deal so I will call up NATO in a little while, and I will call up the various people that are appropriate,” said Trump in a joint conference with Putin after the meeting.

There was no mention of a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire by either leader.
Markets globally have eagerly waited for this meeting for any sign of a ceasefire in the ongoing European war that is in its fourth year since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.Â
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned…
Trump said: “I’ll, of course, call President Zelenskyy and tell him about today’s meeting… We made some great progress today.”
Earlier this year, Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House for a public meeting, which led to no outcome.

That meeting was originally intended to discuss continued USÂ support for Ukraine amid the Russian invasion and to finalise a Ukraine-US mineral resources pact, but ended abruptly without any clear resolution after Trump and Vice President JD Vance repeatedly criticising Zelenskyy in the last leg of televised talks.

“We’ll probably speak to you soon and hopefully see you again very soon,” said the American president.
The meeting lasted for nearly three hours.Â

The US president indicated that no deal was reached after the meeting, without elaborating. Â
Both leaders departed the stage without answering questions, after offering a vague accounting of the meeting.
Earlier, Trump shook hands with Putin after both leaders arrived in Anchorage, Alaska. After the handshake, both leaders left together in the same vehicle.
No sign of ceasefireÂ
Neither Trump nor Putin hinted at even the possibility of a ceasefire in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
