World Mental Health Day is observed annually on October 10, aiming at raising awareness about mental health issues, promoting mental well-being, and advocating for support and resources for individuals struggling with mental health conditions.
It was initiated by Deputy Secretary General Richard Hunter and first observed on October 10, 1992. It was later supported by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), a global mental health organisation with members and contacts in over 150 countries.
